Sherborne Qatar is the only overseas school developed by Sherborne School, and as such it is the only truly British school in Qatar. The education standards and ethos are those of our mother school, and therefore Sherborne Qatar is best described as a British school in an international setting. It is one of the leading British curriculum schools in Doha and the only British curriculum school in the Ministry of Education’s Outstanding Schools Initiative.

Because one of our cornerstones for success is ‘education for life’, we provide a broad-based curriculum that extends well beyond the confines of the classroom. We want our pupils to enjoy as many opportunities as possible and expect them all to play a full part in their own learning wherever that takes place. There is much to be gained from participation in drama productions, in musical events, in sports fixtures, in outdoor activities, and in overseas trips and expeditions. Please look at our Enrichment Programme to see just some of the opportunities available.

Another of our cornerstones is ‘friends for life’ and this is best seen in our traditional House system and our strong emphasis on good pastoral care. Each House strives to be the best and allegiance to the House is a great motivator for both pupils and teachers in a range of friendly competitions and activities throughout the school year.

Community involvement is a vital component in the life of our school, and we work in close collaboration with two key Qatar charities (EAA – Education Above All; and ROTA – Reach Out To Asia) as well as other smaller organisations.

We recruit the vast majority of our teachers directly from the United Kingdom and all have relevant experience of the age groups and subjects that they teach. All of our teachers hold recognised UK teaching qualifications. Our Arabic teachers are similarly qualified.

The Parents’ Handbook contains details of all our day to day procedures and details of key policies. This is a ‘living’ document and is regularly updated. Please take time to read the document, available from this link or on the right of this page.
